Secret Teachings of Jesus

Session 2 Part 5

Babaji: Well, there are a couple of points of view on this question. First of all there are only twenty-four hours in a day; so if we’re working very hard for material things, to make money, and then take care of the things that we have, then there is no time to think of God. I remember one time, when I was in family life; I had a very good business, Mercedes car, a home in Carmel, in California, a very nice place. I had my own recording studio, I had everything.

And one day, it was Saturday, my day off. I spent the whole day taking care of my stuff: my tools, my instruments, my computer, and I got to the end of the day, and I was so tired. And I realized “I just spend the whole day taking care of my stuff. I didn’t even have a moment for myself, what to speak of God.” At that point I realized “Someday I’m going to leave this family life and become a renouncer,” because a renouncer has time for God.

It’s just like we have a very dear friend, and we enjoy spending time with our friend; we don’t want to be at work, we don’t want to be doing housework, or polishing the car. We want to be spending time with our friend, because that’s what really makes us happy. So in spiritual life, we just want to spend time with God, we want to associate with God through the Holy Name, we want to be in God consciousness, we want to study the scriptures. We don’t want to be always concerned with other things.

The problem with material prosperity is that it brings a whole set of problems along with it. Then people will be envious of us, they want to take the things that we have, or we have to be afraid that something will break, and then we will have it repaired. Or let’s say we have a nice big house, I mean there are so many problems coming from material prosperity. Look at Nicole Ann Smith, she had a beautiful body, lot’s of money, so many friends, and it killed her.

I mean, do you know any people who have lot of money? They are all screwed up, aren’t they?

Audience: There are some people who try to keep a some kind of balance, and then there are the people who a trying to push those who are trying to work on spiritual things.

Babaji: If we know the art of spiritual work, we can engage wealth and other possession in Gods’ service. But first we have to be a disciple and know the science of God. Only very few people know the science. How many people could explain what we talked about earlier today?

Audience: I would like to become a disciple, but I don’t want to live like that, but with my prosperity I could help.

Babaji: If you know how to work with it. It’s just like, if I have a hammer, I could use it to build something, or to break. So we have to know the science of God first, and then we can talk about working in that consciousness. The first thing is, we have to become a disciple and learn how to become God consciousness; and once our God consciousness is strong, and we understand this metaphysics, then we can work in that consciousness without becoming entangled in the material things again. But this is advanced; this requires initiation at the very least. Otherwise we’ll again become entangled in material things, and we’ll forget the spiritual consciousness.

Also we see many people are insincere, and they use their material position to pose as a great lover of God, but actually in themselves they’re only thinking of their material position, and fame and admiration, and stuff like that. This is very subtle, because externally they can look very pious, but their actual motivation is material. We find generally that saints are poor, because they say “Why should I work so hard, and then everything will be taken away by death? So why should I spend me time accumulating so much stuff, which doesn’t really make me happy, God makes me happy.”

Audience: That’s why they also don’t get married.

Babaji: Right, because it is so much entanglement. If I’m getting happiness from God, then why do I want to go through all that trouble? Just for the sake of family? Do have any other questions before we go on?

Audience: Why is God creating such a difficult path for us to follow? Six months is too much, too hard to follow.

Babaji: How long did it take you to become a doctor?

Audience: Ten years!

Babaji: OK, so which is more important, God, or being a doctor?

Audience: God!

Babaji: So then we should be willing to invest even more time than in material education in learning the science of God. I spent thirty years studying under my Guru. So if it takes ten years to become some material profession, then how long, I mean my Guru studied with his Guru for over fifty years, before he began to teach. So and he was much more qualified then me. So six months is nothing, but we are attached to our material position, so we don’t want to take such a long vacation.

But at some point I want to tell you this: you will become so much disgusted with material life, that you’ll say “I can’t stand it any more; I have to seek God, I want to know God face to face, I want to have this personal relationship with God.” And you’ll make a firm determination, “I’m not going to quit until I get the result.” And then six months or six years, it doesn’t matter. With that kind of determination, surely we’ll find God. But a person who reaches that degree of faith is very rare.

Audience: Is Kṛṣṇa Vedic Name of Jesus?

Babaji: Kṛṣṇa is the Vedic Name for Jesus’ Father. But the name Kṛṣṇa and the Name Christ are etymologically identical. For example, when we go in the northwest part of India, Kashmir and Afghanistan, they call Kṛṣṇa “Krishta” in Farsi language. Farsi is a language that’s spoken, it’s derived from Arabic, and it’s spoken in Afghanistan, in Mongolia, all the way through the northern Ural mountains, all the way to the Middle East.

So there are many dialects of Farsi, and they all pronounce Kṛṣṇa “Krishta.” So in Aramaic and Greek it becomes Christos, and in Latin Christus, and in Spanish Christo.

Audience: Then what’s the name of Jesus in Vedic?

Babaji: Isha, because he is the first created being in the universe, “Born of the Father before all worlds, God of God, light of light, very God of very God, begotten, not made. Being of one substance of the Father.” That means no mother, he is directly born of the Father.

Audience: Like a clone?

Babaji: Like a clone, very good. We were discussing this the other day. One of my disciples is a religious scholar, and he works at a library in New York. He has access to many ancient manuscripts. He reads Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic, Sanskrit, he is very learned. So I asked him “Can you find the source of this teaching in Nicene Creed that Jesus is born from the Father?” And he looked for about two weeks, and he couldn’t find anything. So this is described only in the Vedas.

This means that the people who wrote the Nicene Creed had access to the Vedas. Otherwise where did they get this information?

Audience: There is similar information in the Greek mythology about the Nicene, being born form Zeus.

Babaji: Well, these aren’t myths, they’re history. This is what happening in the beginning of the universe. God creates the material elements; he emanates them from his body. Then Isha is born; Isha means the first, the original. Sometimes he is called Aja, which means the Self-born, is born from the Self or God. Then he transforms the material elements into the galaxies and stars, planets and different species. They’re all created by him.

So Jesus’ body is self-manifest, that’s why he can take birth from a virgin, and actually he is taking birth from himself. He can cure anything, because he understands every detail on how these bodies work; after all he created them. So he is given the intelligence and the power to create the material universe by God, he is the principal servant of God in this universe, and he is also the original Guru.

Audience: So this is a special kind of energy then?

Babaji: Oh, yes; not everyone can do this!

Audience: But we have a spark of this inside us?

Babaji: Right! Just like, I don’t know, do you play music or any art?

Audience: Not really!

Babaji: But everybody has something they can be creative. So that creative energy is the spirit spark of Brahma, spark of Vishnu, what ever you want to call it. And that’s the soul. So if we see qualities in ourselves, like urge for creativity, the urge for transcendents, freedom, love, personality, individuality, and so on, consciousness, mind, memory, reason, ecstatics and so on. We can understand those qualities are also present in God, but in an unlimited quantity, and in perfection also.

So when we chant the Holy Name, we come directly into contact with that person who has….

Audience: Through resonance?

Babaji: Resonance, yes! Everyone understands what he is talking about? Resonance, for example in this room there is one note, thererererere, right about there, did you hear the echo? Because the room resonates at that frequency. Similarly when we chant the Holy Name, we bring our consciousness into resonance with God’s consciousness. The Holy Name is so fascinating, I’ve been chanting the Holy Name since I was twenty. But I never get tired. It’s just endlessly fascinating. There is always something new, always something more wonderful that I discover every time I chant.

So even after all these years, I get up in the morning, and after I take my shower and everything I sit down and I chant, and it’s magic it’s wonderful. So you can keep this (Mala Beads) with you all the time and you chant when ever you get the opportunity. It’s the latest style. Anyway, is everybody happy with this understanding? Yes, we want everybody to have beads.

Audience: What happens to the person who says that they channel God in a relationship to a Guru?

Babaji: Let’s be honest, most of them are just giving their own opinion, and if you ask them “Where did you get your teaching?” They can’t give any clear answer. In our lineage, the history is completely documented, going back more than one hundred fifty thousand years. We’re not hiding anything, it’s not mystical. Well, it is mystical, but we documented the mystics.

So I took initiation from my Guru in 1972, he took initiation from his Guru in 1946, and took initiation from his Guru in 1912, and so on, and so on, and so on. The whole history is there. And if you read the original Vedic literatures; we’re giving the same exact teaching.
