Babaji: So welcome to our class. We are going to talk about our seminar, Secret Teachings of Jesus.

I am having a problem, because somebody is wearing a very strong perfume. I am allergic to artificial scent. OK that is better.

So, when we say secret teachings of Jesus, what do we mean by that? Anybody have any idea?

Audience: Why are there are so my secrets from thirteen years old, we don’t know anything, why is that?

Babaji: That’s one secret. Where was Jesus between thirteen and thirty years? From his time of Bar Mitzvah, until the time when he came to John and began his preaching work. Well, I can tell you. He was staying in our school in India. Our historical records show that he attended our school in Puri, and he stayed with us for many years. He also traveled to Tibet, China, all over the Middle East.

We received him as a great teacher. But when he went back to Palestine, they tried to kill him. Why? Because he was giving very powerful teachings. We’re also giving those teachings. So, why are those teachings secret? And how did they become secret? Does anybody know the history? Well, for example when I say the creed, everybody knows. So in that creed it is said, “Begotten by his father before all worlds. God of God, Light of Light, being of one substance with the Father, while being different.” What does that mean? Where is that explained? Another secret.

The explanation is in the Vedas. So many things; for example, Jesus uses the word ‘soul’. In the Gospels, he uses this word eleven times. I did the search. But where in the Bible is the meaning of soul explained? Where is the definition of the soul, symptoms of the soul, and the science of the soul? Where is that explained? Another secret. So, you see there is not sufficient information in the Bible to explain Jesus’ teachings, the things that Jesus says.

He says; only in the Name of the Father. But where is that Name? Where is it given as? Why did the Romans go to Alexandria, and destroy the library? The library had so many ancient books of spiritual knowledge. Why is the public not allowed to go into the Vatican library, and do research? Why are there so many secrets? And how did they start? Well, actually everybody knows the history.

In the third century, Emperor Constantine had a problem. He was the Emperor of the whole Roman Empire. And he got to be the Emperor by murdering his brothers. So he was a real nice guy. He said, “I want to make this empire one, so I will have a state religion.” And he looked at different religions, and finally chose Christianity.

So, he had a big meeting at the council of Nicaea. And at this meeting, he decided what would be in the Bible; what would be in the Christian religion, and he also threw out a lot of things. For example, where was Jesus between the ages of thirteen and thirty? For example, the explanation of how the Lord Jesus is born from the body of the Lord without a mother, before the creation of the worlds. And how he creates the worlds from material elements given by God. How he creates all these species. And then how he enters into different planets to teach spiritual knowledge. He is the original spiritual teacher, the original Guru, and he is known throughout the whole universe.

But why is this information thrown out? Why was it covered up? Because Emperor Constantine thought that the average Roman citizen wouldn’t understand. And he wanted the religion for political purposes that any Roman citizen could accept. So, he took this very high spiritual teaching of Jesus, and he threw out everything powerful.

Meditation, reincarnation, vegetarianism, science of the soul, the real history of Jesus as the celestial Christ. How he is born in heaven, and how he creates the universe. All this knowledge was thrown out, because it was difficult for the average people to understand. And what we got is, salvation by faith, so many mysteries and secrets, so much information missing in the Bible.

And anybody who came to that meeting, any Christian leader who did not agree with Constantine’s philosophy was killed. That’s the history, you can read it in any book of the history of the Catholic Church. That’s how it began.

So now, we have a culture which is based on this very crippled version of Jesus’ teachings. And look, look around you: pollution, prostitution, corruption, exploitation by multinational corporations. This is all the result of having a religion that doesn’t contain full detail. Because how can we be strong, if we don’t know who we are, if we don’t know what we are?

We’re not these bodies. We are the soul within the body. We are not a material being in search of a spiritual explanation. We are a spiritual being having a material experience. That shift in point of view is very solid, but it makes all the difference in our spiritual consciousness. So what we’re teaching is the original complete knowledge which is been kept in India for thousands of years. And this is called the Vedas. Veda means knowledge. Vedas means the complete knowledge of spiritual life.

So we want to empower you, we want to give people the truth syrup, to realize who they are, to realize who Jesus Christ was, and to realize God. What is the aim of religion? Is it just to be a good person?

Audience: To be in knowledge of spirituality.

Babaji: Knowledge is good, but what does it mean, what is the object of knowledge? What is the aim of knowledge?

Audience: Liberation.

Babaji: Liberation from what or liberation to what?

Audience: From the planets. To be stronger internally.

Babaji: Well, these are all partial answers. But the complete answer is: love of God. If we really want to be happy, and we want to attain eternal life, or I shall say rediscover our eternal life, because we already exist eternally. Spirit souls are always eternal. But we become covered over by this material body and the material mind. So we forget our original identity. We forget our original consciousness. And we become forgetful of the real knowledge.

We have to be reminded. That’s why there are teachers, gurus, saviors. That’s why Jesus comes to remind us of this original knowledge. The aim of knowledge is love of God. The aim of all religious practice, spiritual life, meditation, spiritual methods and so on, is to revive our original consciousness, our original identity as spirit souls, in a loving, ecstatic relationship with God. You see?

What is the use of knowledge without an objective? How can we grow stronger if we are not going towards some goal? Just like, let’s say I am lifting weights. I have to be training towards some goal. I want to press two hundred. Or if I am running, I want to be able to jog the 10K. That is a goal. Or if I learn to play music, my goal is, I want to sell a million records or something like that.

So this gives me a direction. From my direction I can decide what is good and what is bad. If I don’t have direction, if I don’t have a goal, then I cannot decide what’s good and bad. I have no basis to maintain. Do you understand? Merely collecting knowledge without a goal is not going to help. Because I cannot decide what knowledge is useful and what knowledge is not useful, or if my hands are helping or if my hands are hindering help. You see, I measure everything, the value of everything according to my goal.

So the highest goal of spiritual life is love of Godhead. And this love of Godhead has five different flavors: neutrality, servitorship, friendship, parenthood, and conjugal love. These things are written in a hidden way in the Bible, where in the Vedas everything is explained completely. The complete spiritual path has many stages, many psychological transformations, and for each of those stages, there is an appropriate knowledge and method. This is all given in the Vedas.

There is so much missing in our western spirituality, because it is based only one book. God is unlimited; so, how can one book have the answers? It is not possible. Even the Bible admits that in the gospel of John; that “Jesus did and said so many things. If this was written in a book, the whole world would not be big enough to hold it.” So, where are all those books? It’s a secret. Who made it secret? Not us. Emperor Constantine. And then the Roman Empire was in control of the western world basically for 17 hundred years. And after that the governments took over this same lie, calling the Vedas mythology. For example the British who occupied India, had a very sophisticated propaganda campaign to convince everyone that the Vedas are simply primitive mythology.

But if you read the Vedas, you find that they are the most sophisticated literature on the whole planet. The whole point was, they were trying to discourage people from reading the Vedas. And that campaign was very effective. As a result we are all in ignorance. All we know is what we are told by the Bible. And that was decided by Emperor Constantine two thousand years ago.

That’s the history of religion in the West. That’s why we don’t know that we are spirit souls. That’s why we don’t how to meditate properly. That’s why we don’t know that the objective is love of God. And that’s why we don’t know how to achieve it. Actually to achieve love of God and experience it, all we have to do is chant God’s name. God’s name is very powerful.
